Meet the Comic Store Staff

Joe Miller

After a long and varied career in Special Education and Social work, Joe bought the Comic Store in 1986 when it was located at the Golden Triangle. In 1989, the store moved to its present location. As well as hanging out at the Comic Store reading comics, Joe also spends his time lecturing and promoting the hobby of comic collecting to schools and libraries. When not at the store, he can be found playing tennis, watching movies or walking his dog, Darla.

Favorite comics: Daredevil, Walking Dead and Fables. Also the present incarnation of the Lone Ranger
Favorite Football team: Eagles

Charles Park, JR

A long time customer of the Comic Store as a kid, Charlie started working here in 1988 while attending College. Upon graduating in 1991 he became the store’s manager and has handled appraisals and purchasing of back issues for over 15 years.

Favorite comics: Hellboy, League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Frank Miller, Alan Moore, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby are among his favorite comic creators.
Favorite Football team: Eagles

Deron Osborne

Deron started in 1993, a long time customer who happened to inquire if the store was hiring and ended up starting two weeks later. “The best job I ever took.” His interests extend to James Bond, 60's and 70's cartoons and adventure/action movies and TV shows. Deron confesses that he has never seen any of the Star Wars sequels. (Sorry Darby)

Favorite comics: Just about any DC comic especially Justice League of America and Justice Society . His favorite creators include Murphy Anderson, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Nick Cardy, Dick Giordano, Jim Aparo and Dick Dillan.

Favorite Football team: Eagles

Lon Flaud , JR

Lon has been with the Comic Store since 2001 and also before that while in college for 1 ½ years. He collects almost all of the new books from DC and Marvel as well as the licensed comics from Dark Horse, Dynamite and IDW.
He is a 1996 graduate from Millersville (BA Art), who can be found underwater (Certified Scuba Diver) or on land (distance runner) or “vegging out” reading (Comics of course) and watching all kinds of movies. When not falling into display cases, Lon enjoys the great atmosphere at the store where he considers his co-workers to be his friends, yes even Darby.

Favorite Comics: G.I. Joe; Transformers; Highlander; Lone Ranger; Capt. America; Civil War; Justice League; Green Lantern and Teen Titans
Favorite Football Team: E-A-G-L-E-S!!!

Ross Holtry

Ross’s first work experience with the comic store was for Career Day in Middle School. He started actually getting paid in 1998. He excels at customer service (or so he tells everyone) and enjoys the distinction of being the youngest employee.

Favorite Comics: Ex Machina, Criminal, Sleeper, the Escapists and Hellboy.

Favorite football team: Eagles

Darby Papez

Darby has been working on and off at the Comic Store since 1990. His specialty seems to be annoying Charlie with his anti-Eagles remarks. (Perhaps he will soon be on the Comic Store's disabled list.) He also takes pride in the fact that he has never fallen into a display case.

Favorite Comic: Everything Star Wars (Note photo friend)

Favorite football team: Steelers !!!!!
